This was a disappointing number of special features. I've heard rumors that there will be numerous special editions in the future. Lame if you ask me. Let's just get it right the first time, shall we?

Lowdown: From the first time I saw this movie, I couldn't wait to own it. The movie is so over-the-top and so much fun, you just gotta see it. This is a highly recommended purchase for anyone with a pulse.

"The Price You Pay.....is I Collect Your Fucking Head!!!!!!!!"

<sigh> Could I love this movie any more? Probably not. Kill Bill Volume 1 has reached the pinnacle of Hobie-love and is forever enshrined in the Hobie Top 10. Others may drop in and others may drop out (so long, Moulin Rouge! - okay, just kidding), but Kill Bill Volume 1 (or 2 - or we'll just combine them so they only take one slot) will stay.

Why, you ask? There's action, to start. And not just explosions.....wait, there ARE no explosions in this movie. Well, there's dirty low-down cat fighting in a suburban house to start with. The introduction to this movie, after the shockingly violent head shot (it must just be me - I talk about this to others and it doesn't affect them like me. I can barely watch that scene) is a wham bam booyah slap across the head as The Bride and Vernita Green go at it. From fireplace pokers to frying pans and knifes, dayum. So now your heart is thoroughly pumping. You then get some backstory like The Bride waking up from her 4-year coma and then her voyage to Okinawa to get the ultimate in Japanese Steel. But this is really so you don't have a heartattack because you need to get ready for the Bride's visit to Tokyo, Japan to take care of some unfinished business.

That business would be a Miss O-Ren Ishii. She is one of the 5 who made the Bride's wedding day a big ol' mess, and while cinematically she's #2 to be fought, she was actually the first one that the Bride went after. Something about the fact that O-Ren wasn't hiding from anything as she is the head of the Japanese Underworld. And oh, you can't deny her authority, especially after you witness her little board meeting, which is perhaps one of my favorite scenes ever. I even tweaked one of the tracks on the soundtrack so I could get her voice as my windows log off. Nice!

So the Showdown at the House of Blue Leaves. Wow. This is literally the last half of the movie. And it needed every single bit of that time as there is so much to take in. Some serious carnage is dealt out. There are the Crazy 88, Crazy Go Go, and of course the showdown between O-Ren and The Bride. <sigh> You gotta see it for yourself to enjoy it.

And that's what's in Kill Bill, Volume 1. There is of course the surprising cliffhanger that gives a bit of set up for Volume 2, and then the reminder that The Bride has three more to go: Budd, Elle Driver (I LOVED this part of Kill Bill, Vol 2), and of course, Bill. The DVD is minimal, but looks and sounds great. As I mentioned before, there is a rumor of an ultimate set, possibly combining the two volumes, a completely colorized version of Volume 1, or one with more footage, or possibly a version that does each. I myself will be hard pressed to buy another edition.

Scenes to Remember: The entire Showdown at House of Blue Leaves; Elle Driver's visit to the Hospital; Vernita's surprise
