The Fifth Leg

No Elimination THIS TIME!
Yet Meredith & Gretchen got majorly hindered (aka Fucked)!

I give major props to Meredith & Gretchen, although they get even more during Leg 6, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. How sad was it to see poor Gretchen wrapped up like a head case after her fall in the Magic Caves? Yet no more than a few minutes after her fall in the caverns, Gretchen was encouraging Meredith to get the clue (which everyone seemed to miss) in the caverns and to be careful. Hello? Here's Gretchen doing her rendition of Carrie with blood all over her face and she's still carrying on. Incredible. Very similar to last season's amazing performance by MJ with the salt mines. Wow.

Buenos Aires, Argentina to Johannesburg, South Africa

So we got out of South America finally!!! Yeehaw! This season has been very linear, espcially with respect to other seasons, in which it seemed like the contestants were back and forth across the ocean lots of times. Anyways, off to South Africa. I have to say, that Fast Forward would have been freakin' impossible for me to do. That water tower was HUGE, and to have to cross it without rails? Uh, no. I will give Ray and Deana their only bit of credit from me ever for doing it well. I do have to say that Rob and Amber's misstep there made me laugh lots. Obviously Rob is the brains of this duo, but this episode highlighted it. Rob: "Amber, you decide, should we stay and wait or go?" Amber: <blank stare> Rob: "Amber, make a decision, it's your call!" Amber: <blank stare> Amazing. I'm sure she loved seeing that footage while watching the episode.

Anyways, I admit my confusion when the episode ended after an hour, as I thought we were getting a long two-hour drama-filled episode. And then to see that Ray and Deana were not going to get eliminated, meaning I was all wrong about my 'background picture' prediction. BUT, with the non-elimination round happening this time, that meant I wasn't completely wrong yet. Because there was a second episode awaiting us, right after this leg. Let's move on to the next page!
