The August 2001 ArchivesGoodbye PoolcamAugust 13, 2001: My website is shutting down slowly but surely,
first off with the removal of the webcam. No more perverted pool pictures
for you! Wednesday will be the last day for the website for the time being.
Do look for it in the future. Maybe I'll figure something out. I went
back up to San Marcos and got my video. SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET! Then Robbie
gave me his video of the day-o-skydiving and that rocked too! Do I really
talk and look like that? Don't let me out of the house, please. Countdown to the End...August 11, 2001: ...of my website, that is. At least as it is
being run now, from my computer in San Antonio. I leave in 7 days to go
back to LA for 5 days, then on the 24th of August, I'm on my way to the
Azores. Scary, eh? Amazingly, I have been busy with lots of fun things.
Most recently and excitingly, I went tandem skydiving! That's a thrill
that I can't quite forget. I'm sure I'll dream about it tonight. Unreal.
On Friday, I went to Boerne Stage with Loren to watch him fly a glider.
While I don't think that's for me, it was damn cool to see a Cessna tow
that thing up in the air and then to see the glider land. I didn't get
to see much else than that, as the glider just seemed to disappear from
view after a while. Additionally, my baby, my love, Emmy is gone. She
officially left my possession on Tuesday. Sniff, sniff. Now I'm borrowing
Robbie's car until I go. I haven't driven a manual transmission in a while,
but it came right back. Let's see, last weekend I made it to Far West
Rodeo for the first (and most likely) last time. It was pretty cool, and
it was the first rodeo I think I've seen. At least as much as I can remember.
My hair is growing back quite nicely, and since it was all uniformly chopped
off, I actually think I need to get it cut as the sides are as long as
the top, giving the effect of a Chia Pet. I've been having a lot of fun
just hanging out and enjoying my last few days here. Still seems strange
and unreal that I'm leaving. I hope all goes well! Vrooom VroooomAugust 2, 2001: That's the sound of me riding a motorcycle in
2nd gear! Oh yeah! On Monday and Tuesday, I took a beginner's motorcycle
instruction course. I was sort of nervous about it, but it turned out
to be pretty fun, although I never got to go faster than 2nd gear. It
was hot as hell though out there, as I was completely covered in clothing
and heavy boots, and San Antonio is not known for its mild summers. Yes,
I know, why the hell would I do this during August? Who the hell knows?!
I just want to get all the stuff done that I probably won't be able to
do in the Azores, where I'll be in about THREE WEEKS! I will be back in
Los Angeles the 18th through the 23rd of August, which will be fun. But
then I get back here in San Antonio the 24th and I fly out to Baltimore,
then to the Azores on the 25th. Those are going to be a long 2 days. My
hair is slowly but surely growing back, and there is more covering on
my scalp than before. Now my hair actually looks somewhat decent. And
my car has been sold. Goodbye Emmy! :-( Click here to see me and Emmy
on our way somewhere. Hobie & the Case of the Really Short HaircutJuly 28, 2001: I know people will think that if I truly didn't
want others to see my haircut, I wouldn't draw attention to it, but since
my hair will NEVER be this short again, I figured I should let
it be seen. I know my dad will probably have a kick in seeing it, and
most everybody else will be in shock, like everyone who's seen it so far
has been. I swear, people I don't even know are staring at it, like I'm
a cancer victim, as Michancy so delicately put it. But I love the attention,
and I just hope that my hair doesn't grow very fast so I can live with
this haircut for as long as possible......NOT. So click on the following
three links to see a sight you should not be able to see ever again: A
Buzz, More Buzz, and finally Side Buzz. Ah yes, the feeling of the sun
directly on your head is like no other. Why is this picture here?!July 24, 2001: Who knows and further, who cares? It's my damn website! In related (but not really) Air Force news: Capt Bryan leaves tomorrow from the wonderful world of the Air Force. He's off to be a civilian, a father, and a permanent San Antonio resident. Better him than me! Just kidding Bryan. But really, I wish him the best of luck as he goes on to greener pastures. On other things, my car is back in the shop, but you can read my rant in my Rants on Life section. When can I sell the damn thing? I haven't done anything noteworthy in a little while except just have some good times hanging out with friends, watching TV, drinking a bud.....There I go again, off on a tangent. I think my website has reached the end of its life, and I anticipate shutting it down shortly, as I really don't know what else to put up. I every now and then think about doing an "I Love Me" Hobie page, but come on, who else but me would look at it? Then I think of a DVD page, but that would be a lot of work (at least how I want to do it), and would it be worth it? Again, who would look at it? Furthermore, who looks at this page anyways (again, besides me)? Why is the sky blue? All these and other stupid questions will be asked tonight! And I think my poolcam is a violation of somebody's rights somehow. I'll try to think of something, besides these long-winded rants, that would keep my webpage sort of interesting (even to myself, the primary audience) so I would keep it online. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated (There I go again, talking to myself). Heaven is a Honda &
