Well, I made my triumphant return to Los Angeles.
It's been since Christmas, so almost 5 months, that I was last in
Los Angeles. I have been gunshy about driving back there considering
the last couple of times I drove there it was nightmarish. Also,
the folks have been coming up to Vegas a lot recently, so there
wasn't toooooo much a need to go to LA. Not that I didn't miss my
friends, mind you!!!
So I took Friday off from work (yahoo!) and drove uneventfully
(!) to LA, getting in there early in the afternoon. I basically
hung out at the house with the folks, doing some little projects
on my car to pass the time (I now have chrome strips on the front
grill of my car - it looks sweet. I'll take pictures soon, once
the car is clean; I also have front mudflaps on, but I discovered
when trying to take off the tires that my toolkit is lacking all
those necessary tools to take off the tires. Damn security nuts!
I'll be seeing the VW dealer soon). Anyways..... The next day I
then helped Harv rearrange the garage overhead storage, which will
now enable the folks to get a new garage door. Yay!!! The wedding
didn't start till 6pm on Saturday, so I just killed the rest of
the time watching movies, taking a nap and such. Finally, I got
all spiffied up and drove down to Long Beach for the wedding. It
was held at Cal State University Long Beach, which has a beautiful
Japanese garden. That's where the wedding was being held, and I
gotta say it was definitely different than other weddings I've been
to, but it was beautiful regardless. Sarah looked beautiful, and
I think she and John will be very happy together. I was really stoked
to see my high school friends though. Of course I saw Mila and Sveta,
and also saw Jacen, Kevin, Ben and for the first time SINCE high
school, Laryssa! That was cool! I also saw a lot of the extended
Mila/Sveta family, including my favorite twins Angie and Rena. Well,
we stayed till about 11 and had some good times, but I knew I didn't
want to go out that night, especially with having to drive back
the next day. So I bid my farewells, and went home to crash, finally
getting up the next day (I had a KILLER charley horse attack me
during the night - if that doesn't wake you up, I don't know what
will), cleaning up, saying farewell to mom and Harv, and having
another uneventful drive home! It was a fun visit, and I'm ready
now for my next weekend. Bring on the hangovers!
