Where it all began - LisbonEuropean Trip - Day 1, May 15, 2002 |

Jason, Wendy, and I decided to have the end-all of European trips - so it commenced on May 15, 2002, with me and Jason flying from Terceira over to Lisbon where Wendy had arrived hours earlier during the day. We only spent a few hours there as we were leaving that night on the train to Madrid. We truly discovered the joys of the Eurailpass during this trip. I highly recommend that everyone take a First Class Eurail trip - it rules! Below are pics that all three of us took during our time in Lisbon. In Lisbon, we only spent an afternoon, but we got to see enough. We took a bus down to the shore and square, walked up the commerce street, found a McDonald's (yea!), bought a bottle of the green fairy (think Moulin Rouge), and made it back to the train station so we could make sure to not miss our train to Madrid. The real fun of the trip was just beginning as we rode our first train, and also soon realized that we would be sharing the sleeper car because I'll be damned if I'm sleeping in a chair. |
