So, let’s just say I’m talking about “baking” and not about “getting baked” but I enjoyed the snappier headline I ended up using. I have loved making chocolate chip cookies, but ever since I bought the Modern Art Desserts book at the LACMA when we went to see the Kubrick exhibit last year in 2013, I’ve been wanting to get back into making cakes. For a time while I was in the Air Force, I made birthday cakes quite a bit. I know, I know…what? But I did, and I loved doing so. Of course, times change and then you move on to drinking or something…but with buying that book, it felt like a challenge. You see, I REALLY want to make that Mondrian-inspired cake on the cover of the book. Like, REALLY. So flash forward a few (a lot of) years to now and I decided to get back into it. I bought that Martha Stewart Cakes book to get ideas for other types of cakes and techniques, and just today, I went on Amazon.com and bought a few more cake-making utensils and pans that will be key to realizing this wonderfully-caloric hobby. I’ll advise with pictures and testimonials as to how things progress.
