Whew.
So I updated (or rather, I tried to) my iPhone’s software to the 2.0 version that was released along with the iPhone 3G, as the software works on both the old and new models of the iPhone. I have never had problems doing this with the previous updates. Well, iTunes finished downloading the software and was in the midst of installing it when I get this error message that says, “iPhone could not be restored. Error message such and such. Please restore iPhone to factory default settings using Restore”. Uh…what? So I click on the Restore option and I get a further message saying that Restore failed. And when I look on the iPhone, I get this mocking white Apple logo that doesn’t go away for anything. WTF? Holy hell, what the heck just happened?????
So I take a few breaths, type a panicked post below, and look on Google. I find there a few entries on the Apple discussion forum all these different suggestions, but the one I latched on to first was to ditch the iPhone dock and plug it directly into the USB jack. So that’s what I did, and after doing that, my Restore worked, and luckily enough, the Restore took it to the 2.0 software, so now I can have APPS!!!!!!!
yay!!!!! (big sigh of relief)
